Hi. So simple a word and yet so often missing from texts and emails. Those two letters alone can change the tone of an entire message, as well as the response you receive.

I remember instructing a night course at LaSalle University in business communications several years ago and covering soft touches such as this. A simple greeting can soften communication and let your reader know you’re human. This couldn’t be more useful in our ubiquitous digital interactions today, eh?

LinkedIn says, “There is a hierarchy of greetings, from informal to formal, and you should match the salutation to the relationship you have with the recipient.”
